Collaborative Design
Collaborative Design
For my portion of the collaborative design I worked on brand identity by creating a logo. After discussing who we were going to design for, we decided on working with Kelli's niece who bakes and sells cupcakes. The title of her business is Cupcake by Candyce. For my logo I wanted to keep with a girly and fun theme. I used bright, pastelish colors and scripty fonts. I also created a cupcake so people would be able to instantly recognize what Candyce was creating. With the cupcake I used poofy frosting that was brought together with the gestalt principle of similarity. I also attempted to create a figure ground relationship with the cupcake and Candyce's name. Candyce being the figure and the cupcake appearing to be in the background behind the name. I also tried to consider harmony and balance. I feel as though the logo is balanced very well with the larger elements like the cupcake and letter with the smaller elements like the text "cupcakes by" and the decender on the "Y." I tried to keep the logo harmonious as well with similar colors and graphical styles.
The three personas in the class were done by Karli, Carie and Kelli:
Jane, 39, she
is married with 4 kids, ages 15, 12, 10 and 7. She is a stay at home
mom and her husband works full time. She is always trying to be a fun
mom and loves having a good time with her kids. She loves throwing her
kids big birthday parties with lots of food and treats. She doesn't
like baking for the birthday parties and is always looking to hire a
good company to make them for her.
Kate is 25, stay at home mom with two kids and another on the way. Her
oldest child Audrey is turning 5 in a couple of days and she wants to
have a birthday party for her. Audrey loves princesses and the color
pink so Kate wants to have a pink princess theme party. Kate is very
busy with her other child and is 8 months pregnant so she hopes to be
able to plan a party and not have to worry about slaving in the kitchen
for hours on her feet.
Overall we decide Cupcakes by Candyce was a girly, fun cupcake shop that would be distributed to birthday parties and bachelorette parties. We went with script fonts and pastel colors to keep with the theme of femininity.
